Saturday evening, and it turned quite reasonable for early January

Still, late in the evening, nice to stay inside and consider new information

The worst of the cold has passed,

but it's still not pleasant out there.  So if you don't have to be out in it,

Friend asked about sabot slug loads for shotguns,

specifically "Know anything about loading these?"

No, I do not.  Therefore, research was done.  The basic seems to be using a standard shot cup/wad combo with a suitable-size slug inside, with some insisting that gluing a pasteboard wad to the bottom of the cup gives better accuracy.  This is going to require more digging around.

Short version: "Until all the academics think and speak the right way,

'academic freedom' is oppressive!"
It gets harder and harder to parody these people.

Sue the cop, the Stairways idiot,

the hospital and the doctors; ALL of the bastards, for everything they have or ever will.

I'm not going to use any excerpts, because I'm too damned mad.  They could easily have killed him, and they'd stand in a press conference and say "Oh, well, we made a mistake, sorry about that."

Wait, I thought the left hated hedge fund mana- oh, wait,

that's right, he gives them money, so he's good.

A University of Knoxville, Tenn., student claims it is okay to kill young children, because they cannot communicate like adults do, the pro-choice college male said in a video released Thursday.
I wonder if this idiot knows what he's setting himself and some of his teachers up for?

Coulter can be a bit of a twit, but she's dead-on about Diaper Franken.

The enemy is in DC, currently playing "We shouldn't talk bad about the Iranian government"

According to the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida, three years ago the Obama Administration warned the Iranian government that Israel was about to assassinate Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force, the overseas arm of Iran's Revolutionary Guard, in Damascus.

Al-Jarida asserts that the incident “sparked a sharp disagreement between the Israeli and American security and intelligence apparatuses regarding the issue."
'Sharp disagreement' means "You stabbed us in the back and betrayed us, you bastards."  Which they did.

This is also the administration, let us remember, that gave the thug's government billions in cash, which even John Effing Kerry admitted would be used to finance terrorism.

Same clowns who are currently running around telling us "We shouldn't say bad things about the Iranian government killing and arresting protesters."

Someone once said that they didn't believe Obama was secretly muslim simply because "To be devout, you have to believe in something bigger and more important than yourself."  But he did and does have a soft spot for muslim governments, no matter what they do.  And if they hate the US, all the better.

John Ringo nails it

It's a Bookface post on the FBI/DoJ idiots actions, if you can go read the whole.  Here's the nut:
But the FBI/DOJ Inside the Beltway assholes could not get their heads around that.

So they decided they had to ensure that this neophyte, Danger To National Security, 'pussy-grabbing' asshole did not get elected and if he did was so damaged he couldn't do much damage.

The term here is, yes, coup. The original term was 'coup de tat', meaning 'cut to the head.' To take out the head and the rest dies. It was a coup attempt, the first that I can definitely recall in American history. (At least that was so strikingly obvious.)

The Yates/McCabe/Mueller/Page/Strozk cabal (there are others) attempted a coup de tat. And they need to be punished for that in no uncertain terms.
...
The same needs to happen to everyone who was even peripherally involved. If they should have known, if they might have known, if they could have known and looked the other way, they should be hurt. Taught what the term 'pain' means.

Purge the whole damned thing with fire.

Because they've damaged, to a degree unimaginable, the peaceful transition of power that is the ONE THING the rest of the international community is amazed about with the United States.

And they have just fucked it to an amazing degree. By sheer arrogance, blind ignorance, parochialism and stupidity.

They all need to learn what pain means. This was, and I am not exaggerating this, a worse incident than 9/11.

Ah, the NYeffingTimes; I wonder which they're more worried about,

an America-hating regime being damaged, or Obama coming out of this looking like the clown he is?

When Woodward and Bernstein are telling you to knock off the attitude in your 'reporting', you might want to listen.

Gee, I wonder what's different this time...
The report added, “Religious leaders and the leadership must come to the scene as soon as possible and prevent the situation (from) deteriorating further.” It continued, “God help us, this is a very complex situation and is different from previous occasions.
I suspect a US administration that doesn't want to prop-up their regime has something to do with it.

The feds involved in the Bundy prosecution demonstrate, once again, why trusting ANY federal agency is insane:
"The omissions do not amount to “flagrant misconduct,” prosecutors claim and are asking for another attempt at trying Bundy, according to E&E News.

“The Brady violations found by the court are regrettable and benefit no one,” Nevada’s Acting U.S. Attorney and lead prosecutor in the Bundy case Steven Myhre wrote in a legal brief obtained by The Oregonian. “But because the government neither flagrantly violated nor recklessly disregarded its obligations, the appropriate remedy for such violations is a new trial.”

Bullshit. You and your staff committed these violations of law BECAUSE it benefited you, and you should be disbarred and prosecuted for them. Instead, you want to play "Hey, we didn't break the law THAT badly!" and call your violations of law 'omissions'.

You are corrupt bastards, your agency is partner in the corruption, and you all need to be looking for new jobs.  Ones that don't need a law license(because you lost yours), and after your prison sentence.

Short version: Politicians in places like the PROM and DaFSoNJ* hate the tax cut plan

because it'll make it harder to hide just how nasty their taxes are, and harder to keep the peasants quiet about them.

I flat love this slap of reality:
New Jersey’s Gov.-elect Phil Murphy campaigned on a promise to impose a “millionaires’ tax.” But the Democratic president of the state Senate, Steve Sweeney, said in November that New Jersey needs to “hit the pause button” because “we can’t afford to lose thousands of people.” His next words could have come from a Republican: “You know, 1% of the people in the state of New Jersey pay about 42% of its tax base. And you know, they can leave.”
Yes, they can.  Some of them already are, and it's hurting.  Which is good: stupid SHOULD hurt.

*In case you haven't seen those before,
PROM= People's Republic of Maryland or Massachussetts
DaFSoNJ= Dark and Fascist State of New Jersey

Once upon a time,

when I was doing a lot more black-powder stuff, I picked up some brass tacks and decorated the stock of my rifle.  Came out nicely.

Those were good tacks, with solid brass heads.  So when I thought of doing a bit of similar work I started checking around.  Seems that I can find one size at one place that has a solid head, all the others are brass-plated.  Damn.

And no, there's none of the old ones left; at that time Tandy had them in small packages and I only bought what I needed.

This plan will probably need rethinking.

So... the plot for the 'Resistance' for next year is to

Steal, riot, mooch, hate, and be racist assholes.

Which differs, apparently, from last year.  Somehow.

Be it noted, when someone refers to stealing as the forceful redistribution of wealth and property, then you know what kind of asshole you're dealing with.

Have a friend/relative in college?  Tell them the proper- the ONLY proper- response to a call from a university about a sexual assault accusation is "I'm calling a lawyer, they'll call you back."  And if they threaten you for calling an attorney, add that to the list.  Because a kangaroo court would be superior to what happens at these hearings.

"It's racist!  All of it!  EVERYTHING!!"

Once more: 'Do NOT talk to the EffingBI agents.

No matter how friendly they act.'
It might seem there is no harm done when FBI agents persuade or cajole people to confess to crimes. But there is a long record of law enforcement officers coaxing false confessions out of people. A study of exonerations in the United States between 1989 and 2004 found that 15 percent of the people who were exonerated had confessed to crimes they did not actually commit. And there is an equally long and disreputable record of the government incarcerating people for a far longer time than their confessions would justify.
And, bluntly, considering what's come out about about the EffingBI the last few years, why would you trust them?

This seems to go for cops in general as well; once again I will throw this in

Michael Schrader of Port Huron is a

Times Herald community columnistscreechy hoplophobe.*
Short version: "Open carry is terrifying!  Who knows?  I won't go there ever ever again!"

There is also the possibility, as Miguel notes, that it may not have happened like that, and jackass is either exaggerating or lying his ass off.

*Fixed it for them.

Clearing

Two scenes from the range

"Yes sir, it's a nice new AR, but you can't shoot it without sights.  Because(you moron) you can't aim it without sights."

"Sir, a front sight only doesn't cut it, you need a rear sight as well.  SO YOU CAN ACTUALLY AIM IT, that's why."

I've witnessed three of these conversations, and know of a couple of others.  For some reason a few idiots think "I just want to try it out, I'll worry about some kind of sight later" and think that's a good idea.  Which leads to us pointing out that we don't care if it's a $15 set of irons off Ebay or a $100 red dot or a $1500 Trijicon, there has to be some way of actually aiming the damn thing before you can shoot it here.

It's enough to ruin your holiday mood.

Yeah, New Year and all that;

some bastard still hasn't closed that freezer door, so I'm staying in.  It's 6f out there, dammit.

In other news, for some reason I once again find myself having fond thoughts of a .22 Hornet.  Just because.

Of course, the other day I was gazing upon a Winchester 1885 High Wall, in .45-70.  Which inspired more lustful than fond thoughts.  No, I did not put down a deposit.

Actually, what I need to do is make another pass at cleaning the work room.  Then make up some ammo.  And finish that book.  At least one out of three needs to get some attention today.

Oh, by the way:

Happy New Year, etc.

'Improve gun safety' =

"I want to add more complications that can cause your weapon to crap out when you most desperately need it."

Um.  No.  HELL no.

Tell you what: when the cops start carrying these and getting chips implanted, let me know.  Not because I'll buy one, but because I'll mock the brass who bought the damn things, and commiserate with the poor damn street cops who have to carry the crap.

Yeah, they were 'very careful' with classified material.

Right.
At least five emails determined to be classified were found among 2,800 documents stored on a laptop belonging to Anthony Weiner, whose then-wife Huma Abedin was deputy chief of staff to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The State Department released hundreds of pages of materials Friday afternoon, including a total of eight pages classified at the 'confidential level,' the third most sensitive level the U.S. government uses.
Anybody other than Hillary & Staff would've been in a cell a long time ago for this crap.  And if Comey had any sense of shame he wouldn't be able to show his face in public for helping them stay out.

When stupid and PC brain combine, this is what you get

They're getting pretty desperate when those gestures are now 'Only used by racists!'  Bloody hell.
